Julio Etchart (b. 1950) has long been at the cutting edge of contemporary photojournalism. At home wherever in the world he happens to be working, nowhere is taken as exotic or 'other'; the focus is always on the story, never its trappings. He grew up in Uruguay and later settled in the UK where he studied Documentary Photography at Newport Art College. Etchart have since travelled round the world for the international media and have also worked as still photographer, consultant and researcher for film and TV companies.
